Krav Maga for American Law Enforcement has the primary objectives of Officer Safety and Subject Control. In the past, most AC/DT systems for LE focused on control techniques that are designed to minimize the likelihood of injury to a suspect while taking custody thereby avoiding lawsuits to the agency. The problem was that those techniques never work in the real world environment when a suspect is actively fighting or attacking an Officer. A ‘wrist-lock’ takedown to cuffing technique really only really works 1-on-1 if the suspect allows it to. This lead to officers wasting time trying ineffective techniques, allowing suspects to gain the upper hand in an altercation, and causing Officers to have to escalate force far beyond what may have been called for in the first place.
