"I have been employed as a police officer for 19 years. In my 19 years, I have been through many classes dealing with the use of force. I can honestly say that I have learned more about self defense through my short time with Krav Maga than I have through my past police training. I have more confidence in my abilities to take defend myself if necessary. It is also a great stress reliever to punch and kick on bags after a rough day on the job. I recommend Krav Maga to all."
J. Green, East Texas Law Enforcement Officer."If someone had told us that we would be taking Krav Maga we would have told them they were crazy! I (Debbie) attended a Rape Prevention seminar they held and was amazed that after just three hours I felt more confident and thought this program was something my husband would enjoy. We had been lifting weights for 3-1/2 years but weren’t doing a very good job on cardio – it was boring! Krav Maga is an excellent way to sneak in your cardio; it is so much fun and offers suchvariety that you realize that getting in shape (and having a healthy heart) doesn’t have to be a chore. Nathan and his assistants are great instructors who are encouraging and professional. Krav Maga training increases your stamina, provides practical application and teaches you to control your stress in an intense situation. It equips you to protect yourself and your family. Prior to taking Krav Maga my (Ricky) doctor was concerned about my high blood pressure; however after taking Krav Maga for three months my blood pressure is much lower. My doctor has seen the results and is encouraging me to continue the class for health reasons. If you want a challenging work out that teaches practical self defense, builds yourself confidence and is a great stress reducer – Krav Maga is for you. Warning –Krav Maga is addictive!"
Ricky & Debbie Cambell"When I first started looking for a self-defense class, I had no idea that Krav Maga even existed. I watched the videos on their web site and thought I would give it a try. The only thing is I had no idea how much I would love it! I can come to class after a bad day at work, punch on a few pads or bags and go home with a lot less stress, a great cardio workout and an uplifted outlook all in one hour. Nathan and the other instructors are encouraging, positive and have a great way of explaining the how's and why's of the self-defense techniques they teach. Krav Maga has been a great self confidence builder, not to mention helping with ones fitness and mental focus in case you are ever in a situation where you had to put their teachings and techniques to use. I would highly recommend this to anyone. "
Lori Gunn, Accountant UTSHC"I finally kept my resolution this year! I lost 31 pounds and around 20 inches total and have gotten in the best shape I have ever been in! I owe it all to East-Texas Krav Maga! Yes they are a self defense place, but they also have a killer fit class..."
Nicole HernandezI cannot express enough my gratitude for all the hard work you put into each of us. I can't imagine going back to the status quo of what my activity levels were before doing the 90 Day Fitness Challenge. And, I do truly find myself WANTING to continue with the same nutritional habits. The meal plan was satisfying and made me feel good. I have never had a "gym" experience like this one and would (and have) highly recommend it to many friends. Thanks again!
Michelle DyessI am a former Marine and Police officer who has over the past 15 years (since I got of the Corps) have had a hard time getting in and staying in shape. I'm very busy with life. I am a Pastor of a small country church and I am a full time school teacher and a husband and father to my children. I hated going to the gym and lifting weights because it was boring and it all seemed an exercise of vanity. A bunch of people working out to look good with their shirts off. I'm over that and I want to work out to be in shape and to serve a purpose more than just looking good. I have done Aikido and some kick boxing and Tae kwon do as a kid but it was too formal and ritualistic. When I heard about Krav Maga from the history channel (huge fan if btw) I saw a show on the most effect combat/self defense styles known as Krav Maga. I got pretty excited. As a Marine I loved the study of combat and the idea of self defense that is practical too. So I looked up for Krav Maga studios and by Gods blessings there was a Krav Maga gym in Tyler. From the first class I was in love with Krav Maga. I left the class feeling better about the idea of being able to protect myself and family and I left the gym with sweat drenched clothes from a very intense and changing workout. Nathan and the whole training staff at East Texas Krav Maga are professional and make you feel welcome unlike one may feel going to a gym and they talk over your head or down at you because you don't know the name of a piece of equipment. Nathan and his instructors are kind and very helpful. I have lost nearly 20 pounds of fat and I no longer get as winded when doing cardio. My wife thinks I look good and my clothes have gotten a bit loser. I would highly recommend Eat Texas Krav Maga to anyone wanting to learn self defense as a beginner or advanced level ETKM is for you. If you want to get in shape the cross fit aspect of the classes challenges the most fir athlete as well as the beginner. The seminars that Nathan puts on through out the year are very well done and are very practical. I love ETKM and you will too. You'll meet the best people in Tyler at ETKM.
Dr. Doug Hanning, Hebron Baptist ChurchYou can usually tell what's currently most important to the Fishers by looking at our refrigerator. I looked at it today and realized some form of Krav Maga curriculum had been there a long time. Right now there are three different levels. One of the things I most appreciate about East Texas Krav Maga is how Nathan and Kim help their students make and set goals, then push us to exceed them. It's not just self-defense, not just fitness. When I started at ETKM, I had no idea I was capable of some of the things I can do now. I have always liked to exercise, but I had never really pushed myself. Now I love the way I look, and am amazed at the things I've learned. Since every class is different, I always can't wait to go again. I think Krav Maga curriculum will probably stay on my fridge for a long while to come.
Melissa Fisher, TISD 5th Grade TeacherKrav Maga is one of the best things I've ever been involved with. I've done some deep reflecting on the matter, and I've discovered that my greatest fear is being faced with a life and death situation and then failing to act. Part of this fear comes from the fact that I've been blessed with never facing such a test, but that lack of life experience leaves a big question mark in my mind about how I would react. Even my experience being robbed at gunpoint a few years back and keeping a level head through the ordeal didn't completely satisfy my concern. Krav Maga has shown me my flaws in a psychological sense: I am my own worst enemy sometimes, partly because I take everything I care about so seriously that I want to perform perfectly. This is not a reasonable goal in Krav Maga, nor in life in general. The principles Nate teaches - never quit, and go home safe no matter what - have been important tools for becoming a better, stronger, more confident man. Krav Maga has been a window to learning some great life lessons as well as a means of "seeing what I'm made of", as a fighter. I will always be a work in progress, but I can say that because of Nate and Krav Maga, I can walk into any situation in life and fear no man!
